KERR CASTLES
- Ferniehirst Castle (Sometimes Spelt Ferniehurst) was built around 1470 to hold the gate to Scotland and to serve as a base for military raids into England along with Cattle-lifting forays. It commands the Road to Otterburn to and to Newcastle. For 50 years in the 20th Century was used as a Youth Hostel but it converted back to residence.

- Nirsbet House – A 17th Century tower house
